of the menu system is separated by a '-' (dash).
For example, the menu level for accessing the open Helpdesk calls is
1-1. This is the first main menu item, and the first item in the
first sub-menu. Another example is would be the Unregistered Software
report, sorted by Workstation. The menu level for this option is

The R&R Job Control File is a hotkey routine, protected by a hardcoded
password, normally used by the system administrator or programmer and not
by end users. The purpose of the routine is to maintain the Master Job
Control File. This is the file used by R&R Runtime for specific report job
instructions. We have added several fields to the file for flexible use, as
well as for system administration.
As administrator, you will create a record for each Report you want to be
available to the users. These entries will be browsed by report name as
Page 142 LAN Management Control System
===========================================================================
users select reports. There are three pages of data entry.
You will note that there are two report names, and it is important to
distinguish the difference in these two fields.
"R&R Stored Name" (RI_REPORT) is a field which must carry the name of the
report as recorded in the R&R Report Library that you create with R&R
Report Writer for this application. This field will not be seen by your end
user, but R&R needs it for identification.
"Report Name" (AD_UNAME) is a unique field that carries a report name which
will be seen by the end user. Since you may want several reports based on
the same report format in the R&R Report Library, the AD_UNAME field is
used to identify each version.
For example, you may define a "Sales Report" with R&R. Variations on that
report, based on different Scopes and Queries (Filters), could include:
- Daily Sales Report
- Weekly Sales Report
- Weekly Sales Report: John Doe
- Weekly Sales Report: Anchor Department
The various Scopes and Queries can be recorded in this Job Control File and
your R&R Report can even use the Job Control File to retrieve the report
name from the AD_UNAME field, so the report headings will be indicative of
the information in the report. This is covered in the R&R Manual. See
Function RIPARAM().
You are given even more flexibility in that you may permit your user to
edit the report name at runtime.
All runtime edits are controlled by the entries you make on page 3 of this
procedure.
You must set up the default answers for each of the R&R required fields as
you want them for each report. Certain fields, according to your
specification, may be reset at print time if you permit. You'll want to
check the R&R Manual for the precise needs of these fields.
Several fields are provided for special processing by the program. They
are:
a. "Do First" (AD_DOFIRST.) This is a field that can carry a one or a
series of Clipper expressions, separated by a comma. These will be put into
a code block, macro compiled and eval'ed prior to writing the temp job
control file and shelling out to R&R Runtime. You can do literally anything
in this way, but you will need to do some programming to accomplish this.
b. "Do Last" (AD_DOLAST.) This field is handled just like "Do First,"
except it is macro compiled and eval'ed after the report is complete.
Any errors in the "Do First" or "Do Last" fields can be expected to result
LAN Management Control System Page 143
===========================================================================
in an ugly crash to DOS.
Suppose you want to use the R&R Job Control File to run other report
routines. It's easy! You can include a variety of R&R and other routines in
this one file, and it's not necessary for your user to know the difference!
Just leave the R&R Library field (RI_LIBRARY) blank. This is required for
any R&R report, but this program will recognize that the field is blank and
will, as a result, not make a call to R&R Runtime. The Do First and Do Last
routines will still be executed, however, so you can use those fields to
call other routines provided in the program or external calls to other
programs. Here's an unusual example. If WordPerfect is called from DOS by
the command line:
WP [Enter]
just leave the R&R Library field empty and put the following entry in the
"Do First" field:
AD_OVL("WP")
This will call a special routine in this program to shell to DOS and call
WordPerfect. You could add command line options to run a macro, select a
default directory for WordPerfect, etc., to make this a useful option.
Again, if these entries are not made properly, you can expect an ugly crash
to DOS. For this reason, they are not editable by end users.
Other fields are provided to give you further control over the report,
depending on your report design. They are created for you to access, if
desired, with the R&R function RIPARAM() -- See the R&R Manual. These
fields are:
"User Field #1" - AD_U1
"User Field #2" - AD_U2
Both are character fields, length 60.

Code to execute first
---------------------
You may specify that certain processing take place prior to running
the report by placing the appropriate code in this field.
For example, on a direct call report we defaulted the Scope field to
Override. Then we placed the following in the "Do First" field:
mri_loscope:=mri_hiscope:=TRANS(macctno,"99999999")
Page 150 LAN Management Control System
===========================================================================
The variable "macctno" was available to us from the calling procedure.
This allowed us to take the numeric value of macctno, format it to a
character variable, and store it in the low scope and high scope
memvars just before they are written to the temporary control file for
running the report.
There may be multiple expressions in this field. The expressions
should be separated by a comma, as in:
mri_copies:="2",mri_loscope:=mri_hiscope:=(TRANS,macctno,"99999999")
This would give us the same result but set the number of copies to 2.
Another example: You want to print all records where the field
TRANTYPE is equal to either "E" or "B" depending on a user selection.
You put "O' in RI_QUERY to override the saved query with the new one.
Then, instead of relying on the user to properly record TRANTYPE="E"
or TRANTYPE="B" in the filter field, you put this in the "Do First"
field:
mri_filter:="TRANTYPE="+
ZPOP(,,{"Estimates","Billed",
15,15,"Print...","E",.f.,1)
(Of course, you put it all on the one line.)
Now your user will be prompted with the ZPOP() function to answer
which kind of records they want to print, this value, along with the
proper filter string, is placed in the mri_filter memvar, which will
then be replaced in the temporary control file for running the report.
Functions may also be put in this field that are in external programs
you created and linked into the program for special processing.
The expressions are put into a code block and macro-compiled, then
evaluated. You may expect that any failure to get these just right
will result in a quick trip to DOS.
Code to execute last
--------------------
You may specify that certain processing take place after running the
report by placing the appropriate code in this field.
For example, on a direct call report you could specify:
mbilled:=.t.
This would update the variable "mbilled," part of the calling
procedure, to indicate that billing had been completed.
LAN Management Control System Page 151
===========================================================================
There may be multiple expressions in this field. The expressions
should be separated by a comma, as in:
mbilled:=.t.,mprinted:=.t.
This would reset two variables.
The expressions are put into a code block and macro-compiled, then
evaluated. You may expect that any failure to get these just right
will result in a quick trip to DOS.
User Field #2
-------------
R&R allows you to put information in the control file to pass on to
Runtime to be part of the report. This may include data or header
display information. This may be placed into this field or processed
into this field in the "Do First" field. The field name is AD_U2.

Condition For Access
--------------------
As a security measure, you have the option to establish a Condition
for Access to control access to each report. Leave this blank to allow
complete access.
If you have a security system in place with assigned security levels
you can use these to control access.
This field may carry any valid Clipper expression that will return a
logical value. For example:
mSecLevel>=3
would allow access of a public variable "mSecLevel" was greater than
or equal to three.
mSupervisor
would allow access if a public variable "mSupervisor" was a logical
set to true.
IF(ZGET(23,2,' ','Enter Password','@!')=='RRRR',.t.,.f.)
would allow access if the password RRRR was entered.
